Patriots Drop Pride 9-7 to Win Dulles District Title

In the beginning of the 2006 Baseball season, the Loudoun County Raiders and the Heritage Pride were the two teams that everyone was expecting to battle for the Dulles District Championship. However, on Thursday night, the Park View Patriots proved them all wrong, defeating Heritage 9-7 to capture the District Championship.
The Patriots took the field Thursday evening, bringing with them the confidence they've carried throughout the Dulles District tournament. Late in the regular season, the sixth seed Patriots held the reputation of being the only team to beat first place ranked Loudoun County. Led by standout pitcher Kyle Irish, the Patriots were in pursuit of a long awaited District Championship.
Park View took a strong lead early in the game, making the score 9-0 at the end of the sixth inning. Heritage was pressured to make a comeback, but could only amount seven runs in the seventh inning. Senior Park View Pitcher, Kyle Irish had an outstanding game, striking out five Pride batters in just six innings. Patriot third baseman Billy Bradley also had a tremendous game going 3-3 at the plate, two runs scored, two RBI’s and a double. Patriot pitcher David Laub was the winning pitcher for Park View.
The Patriots travel to Warren County on Monday to play in the Region II quarterfinals, while Loudoun County hosts Sherando.
