Mitchell, McDonough lead Valley to 1st round win
The Loudoun Valley Boys soccer team won their first round National District contest in convincing fashion 4-2 over JEB Stuart. The Vikings got on the board quickly and often, scoring all 4 goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. Mauricio Ayala scored first, off a corner kick from Mike Nachjaski. Brian Esoda put the Vikings up 2-0 minutes later on his upper 90 free kick from 25 yards out. The Vikings found the back of the net for goal number three when Roberto Neyra finished a corner from Mike Nachjaski. Senior Brock Bell finished the scoring for the Vikings when he finished his strike off the post from 18 yards out. The Vikings were issued a red card minutes later and played 65 minutes with only 10 men.
Despite the weather, the Vikings got a tremendous defensive performance from Brad Mitchell, Jon Houchens, Brian Esoda and goalie Shawn McDonough. The win was a total team effort and improved the Vikings record to 8-7-2 on the season. The Vikings return to action on Monday as they travel to Falls Church High for their 2nd Round matchup.
