Howell, Houchins,Griffin Keep Beach Race Hot

Marla Howell’s two-out, two-run triple in the seventh enabled the Eagles to deal the No. 4 Cavaliers (12-4, 8-4) their second consecutive loss. Reliever Rose Spracklin blanked Princess Anne on one hit over the final three innings, striking out six. Ashley Bowman’s two-run single in the first inning gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead to a final score of Landstown 4 - Princess Anne 2.

Emily Houchins (profiled in Gameday in March) ripped a two-run double in the third inning to help the No. 1 Chiefs (13-4, 10-3) rebound from Tuesday’s loss and own a half-game lead on Kellam in the Beach race. Kalli Isenhour contributed two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for the victors. Final score Kempsville 6, Tallwood 1

Kellam shut-out Bayside 8-0 as Stephanie Kemp fanned 14 batters in a two-hitter for her 10th win. The No. 9 Knights (10-6, 9-3) slipped past Princess Anne into second place in the Beach District. Tamra Griffin drove in three Kellam runs, and Kelly Porter added four hits.
