Christine Pollard Ends Wildcats Shutout Streak
CHESAPEAKE - For the past nine games, noone had scored on Great Bridge, but Christine Pollard accomplished just that and Amanda Romeo added another goal on a penalty kick for the fourth ranked Hawks, sealing the victory and giving them the Southeastern District regular season title.
Unbeaten in District play, Hickory and Great Bridge were forced into a playoff game Thursday because of a scoreless tie on Tuesday and this time the Hawks prevailed. The Wildcats, led by Keeper Lauren Hollandsworth, had not allowed a goal since the non-district game against Cape Henry over nine games ago. Coincidentally, Kristy Brown had not allowed anyone to score against the Wildcats in nine games and is probably the best keeper in the area, giving up only 6 goals all season.
