Ellis, Landers, and 7 More Decide on College

Hampton Roads continues to produce top rated athletes and several more have made commitments to continue their athletic careers in college.

First Colonial Pitcher Topher Ellis will play baseball at Longwood next year. Ellis batted .451 and was All-Tidewater last season.

Two more Western Branch football players will continue playing in college. Defensive End Eric Black, a 6', 240 pounder will play at NC Wesleyan. Defensive End Darius Ferguson will play at Christopher-Newport.

Princess Anne's Gabby Johnson will continue playing basketball at St. paul's College. Johnson, a 5'9" forward averaged five points per game for the Cavaliers who went to the State AAA semifinals.

Tallwood will send two wrestlers on to continue their careers; Robert Baker has signed with VMI and Corey Wert has signed with Springfield. Another LIon, Carl Landers will play football and wrestle at Cornell.

Great Bridge's Trey Rogers, the reigning Group AAA state champion has accepted a scholarship to wrestle at Newberry College (S.C.)

From Cox High School, Imee Bautista will play tennis for Virginia Wesleyan and Kempsville's Chris Herron will play basketball at Roanoke College.
