Tallwood Falls in Second Over Time

Not many thought Tallwood had a chance against the talent from Herndon High School in Northern Virginia. As it turned out, this was without a doubt, the finest challenge Henrdon had faced this season. Throughout the game, the Lions stunned the Hornets and lost in the final seconds of the second overtime in the Group AAA State Semi-finals.

Richard Gore from Herndon stole the glory from the Lions with one second left on the clock, with help from Chase Miller and made the layup, giving the Hornets a 72-70 double-overtime decision. Gore's finish sent the Hornets (26-4) to the State Finals against Booker T. Washington High School. Tallwood was going home, but the Eastern Regional Champions had alot to be proud of, having completed the best season in the 14 year history of the school's program. The Lions battled back from a 12 point deficit late in the third quarter appearing to have a second wind of sorts.
