Landstown Names new Coach
Dave Hudak was comfortable leading the Granby High School Comets the past 20 years. He built the program into a very well respected on in the Eastern District. However, all that changed last Monday when Landstown Principal Brian Baxter announced Hudak would be the new Head Coach of the Landstown Eagles.
Hudak replaced Coach Chris Beatty, who led Landstown to the AAA Division 6 State Championship game every year for his 3 years at the helm. Beatty left in January to become the Offensive Coordinator at Hampton University after building an impressive 40-2 record during his tenure, including the State Championship in 2004.
Hudak said "Opportunities like this don't come along very often and I am certainly not aftraid of challenges."
Principal Brian Baxter said about 30 coaches applied for the position, most of them from out of state. He said he believes Hudak to be "the complete package". "He's the perfect match for us, a quality coach and a quality teacher." Hudak said he is not concerned about the reputation the Eagles had last season for unsportsmanship behavior. "I am only concerned with what happens from now on. We will work together to grow, we will talk about respect and character and I don't see any issues here".
